I acquired a book! I know, I know, I’m really not supposed to but it was an accident. Sort of. I did one of those Facebook games where everyone promises to send a book to a stranger and then hopes that they’ll receive one in return. Some stranger thought I should read The Little Prince and who am I to disagree with them?

I wouldn’t normally read something like this but I’m glad I did. Although it’s easily categorised as a book for children, a lot is packed into those hundred pages with their lovely illustrations.
It’s funny and sweet and heart warming. It tricked me too, I thought it was just going to be a silly little funny story but by the end, it also managed to make me sad. Somehow I’d become attached to The Little Prince, in spite of the story and his character being quite simple.
I want the Little Prince to come back. I want to know what happened on his planet with his flowers and volcanoes that he carefully swept every day. I want to hear more jokes at the expense of the human condition as he travels around space, discovering others with their own planets.
Unfortunately, that’s not an option. I’ll just have to put Antoine de Saint-Exuprey’s other books on my to-read list and hope for the best. However, I’d recommend it for readers of almost any age and especially if you have children to read it to.
have you watched the movie? i love it!

Ever seen the satire of The Little Prince as illustrated by Gottlieb? It’s hysterical — here’s a small excerpt embedded in one of my France stories: https://thebernardolcottstory.com/2015/07/09/lookin-for-the-eiffel-tower/
I can send you the whole thing if desired… (You need only ask)…
