Glossybox November unboxing

Why is this month’s unboxing so late? Well, the box only arrived last weekend but I was out when it was being delive1red so then I had to go get it from the post office. Seriously, when I grow up and own my own home I’m going to install the world’s biggest secure parcel box so that I never miss a delivery again. Life is too short to queue in the post office.

Aaaaaaaanyway. Since it’s November and things are getting chilly, I was hoping that the Glossies would send me something to take care of my poor suffering skin. Next month it’s December so I’m expecting a Christmas theme, January will be about repairing the damage accrued over the festive period and February will be Valentine’s Day. Obviously. Let’s see what was in the box!

Greenfrog Botanic Natural Bodywash in Relaxing Germanium and Peppermint, rrp. £8.95

The Glossies comment that it’s not often that they’re bowled over by a body wash. I don’t think I’m with them on that. If I’m going to use a product every day I want it to be a good one. Luckily for me, I love the scent of geranium (peppermint is fine, I guess) and this stuff smells GLORIUS. It doesn’t foam up all that well, which is a shame, but the fragrance more than makes up for that.

Would I buy it? It’s a little pricy but, yeah, maybe as a treat.

Beauty UK Cosmetics Contour/Powder Brush, rrp. 6.99

This nice. The bristles are very soft and have just the right resistance to pressure. It’s also quite pretty. All my brushes are mismatched and I’m starting to wonder about those people on Instagram who seem to have it together with their matching sets but it’s not my fault if the best blending brush is by one company and the best fan brush is from another, is it? Anyway, I’m not sure it’s replacing my favourite blending brush, but it’ll definitely get used.

Would I buy it? I’d consider replacing it if I lost it and I’d look at the rest of the range.

SportFX Candy Floss Moisturising Lip Balm, rrp. £4.99

This smells quite sickly sweet, which I’m not crazy about, but it doesn’t really taste of anything so I’ll forgive it for the scent. The bright pink colour doesn’t really come through on the lips where there’s barely a hint of a tint of pigment, but then this is a lip balm, not a lipstick, so that’s fine too. Most importantly, the formula is great. My lips are seriously dry right now (see above comments about the cold weather) and this is just what I needed. Plus, it’s kind of cute. Straight in the handbag!

Would I buy it? Maaaaaybe. £4.99 is a pretty great price for it but I don’t know that it actually does it’s job better than Vaseline would.

Collection Cosmetics Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder – Dark Brunette, rrp. £4.19

Hold up. This is familiar. Gimme a sec…. YES! This is the same product that they sent back in December last year. Ok, I’m not sure it was the same shade, I seem to remember December’s version being grey rather than brown but I wasn’t impressed then and, frankly, I’m even less impressed now.

Would I buy it? I think it’s abundantly clear that I would not. I wonder if I know anyone who’d actually like it. Maybe I should run a blog giveaway soon but it seems a bit naff to hand out products I don’t like or recommend…

Boots Charcoal and Willow bark Sheet Mask, rrp. £2.50

This is more like it! This is the product I want to take care of my skin, suffering as it is in this harsh November cold. Also, since just last week I finished my tube of Mudmasky, the arrival of a new mask (even if it is a single-use sheet mask) seems very timely. This one needs 15 minutes to do its magic and during that 15 minutes it gets seriously tingly. I’m still not 100% sure I’m convinced by the whole sheet mask thing but this one does do something, my skin felt great afterwards, even if I didn’t obey the instructions when they said roughly, “no need to rinse! Just masage the excess product into your skin!” I was never going to do that – there was a lot of excess product and it was goopy and just… yuck. No. Even so, my skin was smooth, soft and glowing once I was done.

Would I buy it? How cheap is £2.50 for 15 minutes of me time? I might not pick up this exact one first, but I’m definitely heading over to Boots to see what else is in their collection.

Not a bad box, even with the brow powder debacle. Even so, I’m starting to fall out of love with Glossybox. These days I feel like they send me more stuff that I don’t want and won’t use than they used to. Plus, having subscribed for over a year, I feel less nervous about just going out and finding my own new products to try. I’m hanging on for the December box, because they’ve promised a killer black eyeliner, but I might well cancel in the new year. We’ll see.
