Favorite movies of 2017

It’s that time of year again! In December I always like to take the opportunity to sit back, look at the previous 12 months and remember my favourite moments. I’ll make lists (I do love a good list) of favourite movies, TV shows, books, events and so on. I’m starting with movies this year. So, without any further ado, here are the best 10 movies I saw in 2017:

10. Logan

9. Alien Covenant

8. Battle of the Sexes

7. Wonder Woman

6. Kingsman The Golden Circle

5. Blade Runner 2049

4. Thor: Ragnarok

3. Trainspotting 2

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

1. Baby Driver

Special mention: Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Ok, I haven’t been to see this yet, but let’s be realistic now. I’m bound to love it, aren’t I? I tell you what, I’ll update this as soon as I get the chance to watch it. [Edit: Just saw it and I did like it! I think it probably ranks between Thor and Blade Runner.]

Honestly, it feels like I missed hundreds of movies I wanted to see this year. Partly its just been a very busy year, but partly I’ve been a bit disorganised. I really want to get that sorted out in 2018 and make it to the cinema more often. Let’s just go ahead and call that a New Years’ Resolution. I should probably get better at remembering to review them while I’m at it.

What did you love this year? Any favourites? Anything I missed and shouldn’t have? Let me know!

  1. If you’re talking about just films that came out in 2017 as opposed to films that I saw in 2017, it doesn’t seem like very many. I saw Lego Batman (once it turned up on Prime) which I enjoyed a lot. In the cinema, I enjoyed The Red Turtle (beautiful dialogue-less animated film), Wonder Woman and Blade Runner 2049.

I’ll see the new Star Wars in the next few weeks and I oddly fancy the new Jumanji film too.
