December roundup

It’s the last round up/status report of the year! December, as perhaps should be expected, has been a bit of a whirlwind this year and January is already looking like it’s going to follow suit (I really must start blocking out one weekend a month during which I will do nothing). However, I will do my best to keep this brief.

Financial status: I’d been doing so well in the months leading up to Christmas! I’d been saving a little each month and working my way out of my overdraft (admittedly, quite slowly) but Christmas and all the associated events put a stop to that. Ah well, gives me something to work on in the new year, I guess.

Mostly wearing: As many layers as I can so that I look approximately spherical (bonus: no one can tell if I’m bundled up or if I’ve just eaten too many mince pies. Spoiler: It’s both!)

Mostly eating: Mince pies, yule log, turkey, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, gravey, far too much cheese and, hilariously after that list, as many clementines as I can get my hands on.

Mostly drinking: Mulled wine and the delicious Christmassy tea that B got me. Not together. Obviously.

Mostly buying: Just one more Christmas present. And one more. Oh, and that would be perfect for…

Steps taken: ~340,000. *walks around living room for 2 hours to improve this*

Major events:

Reading done: Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Lolita by Vladimir Nabakov, House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski, We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner by James Hogg, Nutshells: Tort by Vera Bermingham, The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allan Poe, Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood and I’m hoping to finish Twelve Tomorrows (2014) by Bruce Sterling before the year is out.

Films watched: Star Wars: The Last Jedi
